Locally, David Riedman, president, and CEO of Riedman Companies, a home and apartment builder, says that he’s been watching the trends and is preparing for the future.“The way we’re looking at flex space is going to be heavily influenced by the pandemic, and it’s going to be driven by different lifestyles,” he says.
He foresees more home gyms, dedicated home office spaces, and pocket offices – “a small space tucked away where you can be on a private video call and not be in the dining room,” for example.

Construction Underway for LECOM at Elmira
Rochester based Riedman Companies has broken ground on a four-story 116-unit class-A multifamily residential building located on the corner of 5th Street and College Avenue in Elmira, NY. The new property, Six67 College Avenue is being developed on the block of land bounded by Columbia Street, 5th Street, and College Ave. Currently, the block is occupied by an Elmira College parking lot and existing homes in various states of disrepair. The building will offer housing opportunities for residents of Elmira as well as students attending Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) medical school in Elmira. The new community will offer studio, 1-, and 2-bedroom apartments along with a host of amenities such as a tech hub for private study space, clubhouse with coffee bar, secured bicycle storage, a state-of-the-art fitness room and will be steps from the new LECOM campus as well as the Elmira College facilities. The brand new apartments will include spacious open floor plans, fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, outdoor living, plentiful storage, and individual laundry rooms. President David Riedman says “Development of Six67 College Ave. is a natural extension of our existing relationship with LECOM and our investments in the Southern Tier”. Dr. Richad for the end of 2021. rd Terry, LECOM at Elmira Associate Dean of Academic Affairs adds, “We are excited about the Six67 College Avenue housing project. There is no doubt our students will greatly appreciate proximate, quality, affordable housing.” Riedman is a significant housing provider to LECOM students in Erie PA housing more than 500 students among four different properties in the area. The Elmira development will also continue Riedman’s investment throughout the Southern Tier including Fairlawn Hills in Hornell, 176 Denison in Corning, WoodsEdge in Painted Post, and management of the former Corning Free Academy; Academy Place. Both the City of Elmira and Chemung County leaders applaud the expansion. Mayor Daniel Mandell says, “These apartments will provide high-quality market-rate apartments for LECOM medical students as well as for citizens in our community. Many thanks go out to David Riedman and his staff at Riedman Companies for choosing our City for this project.” Executive Director of the Chemung County IDA and President of Southern Tier Economic Growth, Joe Roman adds, “This project removes blight from an area adjacent to anchor institutions, LECOM and Elmira College, and helps meet the goal of transforming North Main Street into a pedestrian and bike oriented pathway linking the college to downtown. David Sheen, Deputy County Executive is also pleased to be part of the project. “It will fit perfectly with the strong growth in that area and bring economic development benefits to both the City and County.” Construction of the 140,000-square-foot-building is already underway with half occupancy expected by early in the summer of 2021, with completion schedule .

Construction to begin on Northside Place in Corning
Rochester-based Riedman Homes is breaking ground on a new model home and local community of 25 single-family homes at the former Northside Blodgett School in Corning N.Y.. ‘Northside Place’ will be a custom home community with 1-story and 2-story plans and classic design features, ranging in size from 1300SF to 1700SF. These new homes will have a 2-car garage, full basement, and numerous custom amenities for buyers to select.
